Our Bear of Hopes gift bag was gifted to us in hospital with a beautiful bear tagged in honour of Michael Francis O’Connor born in 2017.
We decided the bear would stay with our angel bub, Leo, stillborn at 25 weeks on 3/6/22 to keep him comfort.
It was the most heartwarming thing to receive.
On behalf of my husband and I, thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Michael’s parents for donating the gift bag and to the Bear of Hopes team.
May our angel bubs play together, somewhere high in the sky over that rainbow.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful gift. I’m sorry for your loss. I was gifted this bear because I had a missed miscarriage in May. This was my first pregnancy and I never thought I could love a baby so much, who was still so young and small and who I only knew for a few short weeks. I never had any symptoms of miscarriage or reason to suspect something was wrong. I had my first ultrasound at 8 weeks and it showed my baby to be only the size of 6 weeks and with no heartbeat. We waited two more weeks in case the dates had been wrong but unfortunately the next ultrasound showed that this was not the case. I don’t know what your circumstances were but I know that whatever the case it must have been the saddest time in your life. I hope that you were able to heal, and I hope that I can heal too. Our babies will be forever in our hearts.

Received our bear

We lost our son, Alex Archer, in January this year and received our ‘bear of hope’ last month. Six months on, the event still remains devastating and difficult to deal with. We are very thankful for the extremely thoughtful actions of the couple who donated it to us in honour of Alex. They went through their own trauma and their kind words, wishes, and fellowship are so deeply appreciated. Alex the bear has taken pride of place with Alex Archer on a shelf, together with his mementos. We view them every day. Thanks again to the marvelous couple and my deepest sympathies to everyone who has had to undergo such pain.
