We are Bears Of Hope Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support Inc. We are a not for profit organisation that provides support and resource information to families that experience the loss of their baby through pregnancy, birth & infancy.

Many families and individuals choose to trust us with their personal information, including some particularly sensitive types of information. We respect that trust and are committed to protecting that personal information in accordance with all applicable laws.

This privacy policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information, and your rights in relation to that information.

How we collect personal information

The ways we collect personal information include:

  • supporting families who experience the loss of their baby, including counselling, workshops, support groups and information resources
  • facilitating referrals to third parties who can provide additional support
  • selling bears and other merchandise through our online shop
  • seeking and administering donations that support our work
  • engaging with the public, stakeholders and parties that support our work, including through social media
  • identity verification
  • protecting the safety and security of our personnel, premises, systems and assets
  • meeting our legal obligations and protecting and defending our legal rights
  • recruiting, training and managing our workforce including volunteers.

We may not be able to do these things without your personal information. For example, we may not be able to provide our services, consider your application or deliver an order.

We are required to comply with applicable privacy laws in our handling of personal information and are also required or authorised to collect personal information under other laws, e.g. the Fair Work Act, Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act, Income Tax Assessment Acts and other tax laws, Associations Incorporation Act, Work Health and Safety Act, Public Health Acts, Workers Compensation Act, Surveillance Devices Act, Workplace Surveillance Act, Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act and Health Services Act.

If we correct or update information that we have disclosed to someone else, you can ask us to tell them about the correction. If we decline to make a correction or update that you request, you can ask us to note this disagreement together with the information.

We may need to engage or consult with other parties in order to investigate and deal with any complaints. We will keep records of your complaint and any resolution.
