Miscarriage Brochure

In early 2009, Bears Of Hope developed this highly supportive miscarriage brochure after identifying a real need for this support within the hospital system. There was no or very little support literature offered to parents through Emergency Departments, Social Work, Day Surgery or Early Pregnancy Assessment Services to support parents who had a miscarriage. Our hope is to have our miscarriage brochures and/or Hope bears in all hospitals, IVF clinics, OB and GP rooms supporting parents who experience this early loss, who often have to try and cope on their own. This can be very traumatic if parents have also experienced recurrent miscarriage loss and have had very little acknowledgement of their loss. We provide a unique support service to let these parents know they are not alone right from the beginning, to offer comfort at a very devastating time, and that support is readily available.

Family and Friends Brochure

In mid 2010, Bears Of Hope developed this important and necessary guide to help family and friends support parents after the loss of their baby. It addresses the immediate needs parents seek and hope for, such as acknowledgement, being there as support, avoiding unhelpful comments, dealing with other pregnancies, how to initiate conversations, and listening without judgement. It also addresses the ongoing support family and friends can provide such as remembering special dates, honouring their baby, support during the next pregnancy, detecting depression, support groups available etc. These brochures have been used at funeral or memorial services by families to pass on to their friends.

A very useful, practical guide to inform family and friends of the traumatic impact the loss of a baby has on parents and how they can help them through.
