Hope For Miscarriage Loss

Our special miscarriage support project

In early 2009, Bears Of Hope developed a support brochure specifically for families who experience a miscarriage, to be donated through Hospitals, GP’s, Obstetrician rooms, and IVF Clinics. With much controversy in the news at the time about hospital protocol and lack of support for families who experience this earlier term loss, we put together a very special brochure for this often overlooked and very real loss; to guide both professionals and bereaved families during this time.

This year we have been working on the development of a small bear of hope to complete our unique miscarriage support project. These smaller teddy bears of hope will be donated with our miscarriage brochures to families across Australia to offer that exclusive support so many grieving parents are in need of.

We would like to thank McDonald’s for their amazing support of Bears Of Hope with their recent Helping Hand Fundraiser in Sydney, raising over $13,000 for us. This has enabled us to develop our new miscarriage bear, "Hope".

Our aim is to have these free brochures and bears in hospitals ready to donate to families who experience a miscarriage, to provide that instant comfort and support; to let them know we are here. We also aim to have these miscarriage brochures in Doctor’s Surgeries (whom most parents will follow up with), Obstetrician rooms, IVF Clinics and any other allied health services where this information will be of most benefit.

This project reflects Bears Of Hope’s intiative to offer a more personal support service for miscarriage loss, including information necessary for families right from the beginning of their loss, and offering ongoing comfort through this lifelong keepsake.

We are delighted to see our Miscarriage Support Project come to fruition and are pleased to be supporting these families across Australia.

A HUGE thankyou to McDonald’s and Russ Berrie for collaborating with us on this project.
